So, ... Im happy to report that a new video (Ive spent the last 3 months working on) will premiere on the 5th in a show at Kunsthaus Graz called Rock - Paper - Scissors. Ill also upload the vid on "the net" shortly thereafter, so dont fret if you cant get to Austria .......... Ps - Ill also be doing a performance at the opening (see idea #5 from this pdf for more info). Also performing will be the Red Krayola and Kim Gordon & Jutta Koether.

Im not sure where Ill go with this yet, as I am still experimenting, or how exactly it will differ from my hot links and utube favs, but I am excited to be trying this out. A few random things going on,.................u can see some stuff of mine (a new Photoshop gradient as seen above, and as plasma burn) at the New Museum in NYC (http://www.newmuseum.org) in a show called "Younger than Jesus", also, if you are Miami, please check MOCA Miami (http://www.mocanomi.org) cause I have my infinite compressing video which still doesn't havnt a title, but is done after Alvin Lucier showing there in a show called "Abstract Cinema and Technology". And last but not least, if you are in Korea, please see a show called "The First Stop on the Super Highway" cause my 2 hour vid "Video Painting" is looping there till MAy at the Nam June Paik Art Center (http://www.njpartcenter.kr).

This is the 3rd time we have done it, and hopefully we can pull it together this time. Pleasure Dome and the Images Festival. Big Deep

On April 18th, at the Kitchen in NYC is "BIG DEEP", a Benefit concert hosted by the Friends of Deep Listening Institute! Pauline Oliveros, the president of the Institute, was my composition professor in college and we have been friends since. In fact, you can see the recent issue of BOMB magazine for an interview I did with her. http://www.bombsite.com/issues/107/articles/3268. I am on the benefit committee for this and although I am not directly participating, I can promise it will be awesome.

As I was saying, its gonna be a great event. Here is some text form the release:

The lineup of performances include a duo with Roscoe Mitchell and Pauline Oliveros, the Deep Listening Band with Stuart Dempster, David Gamper and Pauline Oliveros, video artist Benton-C Bainbridge and an after party with DJ Olive and DJ Oliveros.

In addition to these special performances, Deep Listening Institute will be honoring Roscoe Mitchell with the 2009 Deep Listening Golden Ear award. Deep Listening Institute recognizes Mitchell's astute contributions to the world of music. The Golden Ear award was established in 2007 by Deep Listening Institute founder Pauline Oliveros & artistic director Ione in order to recognize musicians who in their practice are great listeners. Roscoe Mitchell will be the third artist to be honored with this unique award.

The concert is a fundraising event with proceeds going towards the Deep Listening Institute, Ltd. and its ongoing projects. Donors have the opportunity to purchase special VIP tickets at $250 each which includes a cocktail reception and reserved seating. General admission is $100 with advance purchase and $125 at the door. This $100 ticket includes the concerts and afterparty with DJ Olive. With awareness of these lean times, $35 tickets will be available at the door for the concerts only. The Kitchen is located at 512 West 19th St between 10th and 11th Avenues, New York City. Ill be doing a "artist talk" at the Art Institute of Chicago's "Conversations on the Edge" series on Thursday. Details: Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N State St (at Randolph St), Loop/West Loop, Chicago, 6pm. $9; students $7; Film Center members $5, SAIC students and faculty, and Art Institute staff $4..........Not sure what things Ill show, but it will probably be unorganized and Ill just end up showing things off of youtube like always. Also, check out this months Artforum magazine (on newsstands). There is a conversation between me and Dara Birnbaum (one of my favs). We talk a bit about the internet, video history, dance clubs, and even twitter(!?)..........fyi, the first bit is here
